PARTNERS
Digital Youth Consortium
The Digital Youth Consortium is a non profit organisation founded by the Municipality of Rome and six large ICT companies: Acea, Elea, Engineering, eWorks, Unisys and Wind Telecomunicazioni. Launched in February 2001 the Consortium represents one of the first public-private partnership aiming at disseminating information and communication technologies (ICTs) among youngsters and schools through alphabetisation programmes and innovative learning experiences.
The activities of the Digital Youth Consortium aim at promoting a new culture that uses information and communication technologies to develop innovative learning environments and new learning opportunities for teachers, students and other social actors like elder people, disadvantaged people and all those who are at the edges of society.
The Digital Youth Consortium identifies educational experiences that make innovative use of ICT for education and training and works to disseminate lessons and results as a contribution to the fight against the division between information rich and information poor. The digital divide in education is potentially one of the important components of social exclusion, especially among youngsters, enlarging the division between who have access and knowledge of the new technologies and who are excluded.
The Digital Youth Consortium offers its knowledge and services to schools and families to help them to benefit from the opportunities offered by the information society, supporting social inclusion and access to job market for youngsters.
A Partner for Schools, Students and Teachers
Collaboration between public and private institutions, teachers, families and universities is a key factor for a new school oriented to educate youngsters who will have the necessary instruments and knowledge to face the new job market.
The Digital Youth Consortium is a partner for all innovative didactic and technological processes currently undergoing in the school world. It addresses its action to teachers, students, families, public and private institutions actively working in the field of education and training making an innovative use of ICTs.
